Job Description Summary:

The Third Party Accounting Specialist position provides accounting support to the university's collection teams, exercises control and maintenance over customer's accounts by ensuring cash receipts are posted accurately and timely and provides analytical support via account reconciliation, review and troubleshooting discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus two years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in Accounts Receivable preferably with a high volume of customer accounts or invoices. Experience in higher education.
Working knowledge of or in a Banner and or Oracle ERP systems / environments.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Job Duties
  • Post cash receipts to customer accounts accurately and timely, including researching unidentified receipts.

  • Monitor federal payment portals to identify available payment that can be requested electronically.

  • Serve as the interface between the university's student payment portal and the university's financial institution relative to daily file transmissions and payment amounts processed.

  • Produce Foreign Payment Report for the Financial Services Reporting Department.

  • Perform various analyses of receivables, receipts and revenue on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis as directed or requested.

  • Support the customer service effort by researching and analyzing information resulting from customer inquiries or management's requests.

  • Ensure that the subsidiary ledger or supporting schedules are in balance with the General Ledger at all times.

  • Collaborate with other operating units to ensure compliance with university policies, identify potential process improvement and promote an environment of constant awareness and improvement.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
