Building Trades Instructor

Duties include conducting building construction lectures and laboratories (on campus and off campus lab sites), curriculum development, academic advising, and participating in the campus community. This position will regularly supervise and manage up to 20 students working in a construction environment. The candidate must be proficient in and capable of teaching a range of construction tasks.
Candidate will have seven years of professional experience with a minimum of five years of approved trade experience. A working knowledge of residential and commercial carpentry, project supervision, experience in crew supervision, material estimating, building code requirements, OSHA regulations, and jobsite safety are required. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching with the ability to train students at off-campus construction sites. Proficiency in the use of computer-based technology applicable for a construction curriculum. An ability and eagerness to research, be educated in, apply, and teach the latest changes in building technologies, practices, and codes. A desire to advance through professional development and continuing education. A willingness to actively participate in the college learning community to include serving on department, campus, and college-wide committees, participate in student activities, and perform extra duties assigned by the Building Trades Department Chair.
Associates Degree in related field preferred. OSHA 10 certification is preferred. CAD experience is a plus. Classroom and laboratory teaching in vocational education is a plus.
