Posting Description: Responsibilities for this position include: *Receiving patient intake information; obtaining medical records and other pertinent records; researching case if necessary, conducting data searches to bring appropriate information on anomaly, diseases, drugs or other indications *Counseling patients in a formal counseling session; taking pregnancy, medical and family history; assessing and counseling risks; offering support, acknowledging parental beliefs, values and choices *Coordinating preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) testing *Completing counseling summaries and other appropriate documentation *Providing risk estimates and recommending appropriate testing *Reviewing oocyte donor family history profiles *Providing training for clients of the Colorado Genetics Laboratory

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in genetic counseling from a certified program
Board eligible or Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), or minimum 2 years genetic counseling experience in a program supervised by a Medical Geneticist

Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Demonstrated ability to act independently and efficiently 2. Use sound judgment dealing with highly sensitive patient issues 3. Ability to interpret medical rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines 4. Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds 5. Must possess a professional demeanor, and have experience that demonstrates problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks 6. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated, a fast learner, and possess excellent time management, organizational, written and verbal communication skills 7. Must possess knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations

Desired Qualifications: Board certified by ABGC 2 or more years of clinical genetic counseling experience Genetic counseling experience in prenatal or PGD
