Position Summary: The NSCL is currently recruiting an Information Technologist to join the Computer Department. The successful candidate will have an exceptional opportunity for career growth while providing computing support for scientists, engineers, and other laboratory staff in the operation of NSCL as a national physics user facility and in the successful realization of the anticipated Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) project; will play an important role in providing service to support the computing activities of 500+ users working within a complex network of Windows, UNIX, and Linux computers; this position will build and maintain Linux servers and desktops; compile and maintain scientific software; expand and maintain KVM-based virtual environment; perform proactive system and system security monitoring; manage data storage and expand and maintain system documentation; assist end-users in resolving a wide range of computing issues.

Support Staff: Minimum Requirements
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related information technology field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in computing systems or data center management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to work with export controlled materials.
