Multicultural Enrollment Counselor


Job Description Summary:
This position is an integral member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment office. This position is based in Atlanta, but will work closely with the staff based in Savannah.

Minimum Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

Fluent in Spanish/English.

Minimum of one year relevant experience.

Experience with issues relevant to multicultural students.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Ability to access campus, community at large, and distant recruiting sites.

Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

Ability to work nights and weekends.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, administrators, staff, counselors, faculty members, and others.

Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in an organized and efficient manner in an environment that requires one to be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member.

Computer literacy including experience with word processing and database programs like BANNER.

Ability to maintain accurate records, to assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports.

Ability and willingness to travel as position dictates.

Preferred Qualifications:
One or more years of student recruiting experience in higher education.

Essential Duties Summary:
Develops and maintains a mutually beneficial relationship with high school counselors and / or community college advisors to support and encourage multicultural student recruitment with an emphasis in the Hispanic community.

Organizes, schedules, and participates in college fairs, career fairs, school visits, group tours of campus, and other presentations.

Interprets current admission standards and policies for high school counselors, transfer counselors, potential students and their families.

Assists potential students and their families with the admissions process.

Promotes university scholarship and honors programs.

Directly responsible for recruitment efforts in a specified territory.

Assists with the maintenance and expansion of recruitment database files.

Updates, organizes, and maintains a current inventory of recruitment supplies and documents.

Works collaboratively with the Director of Admissions and other Enrollment Counselors in connecting students to the University.

Travel to main campus for meetings, as needed.

Responsible for contacting all new applicants in a timely fashion and reporting comments in EMT Connect.

Works with departmental contacts with questions regarding connectivity.

Performs other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Salary:
Commensurate with Education and Experience.
