The Department of History & Philosophy at York College, City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. York College is the youngest of CUNY's senior colleges and provides a dynamic, multicultural work environment conducive to positive faculty-student relationships and interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues. The successful candidate will be an expert in the area of African History who can also teach Women's History. The selected candidate must have a passion for teaching - as well as experience teaching undergraduates - and a demonstrated record of productive scholarship.


Ph.D. required in area of expertise. Scholars with a sub-field in Women's History/Studies, Gender Studies, and/or Cultural History are strongly encouraged to apply. Also required are 1) the ability to teach successfully; 2) demonstrated scholarship, achievement, and/or a viable scholarly agenda; and 3) the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the department and institution.
