POSITION DESCRIPTION 12 month full time position in the Counseling Center, a unit of Student Health and Counseling, which reports directly to the Director of Counseling. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Provide consultation to students for purposes of referral; Follow-up with students to facilitate continuity of care; Coordinate care and services for students with University departments and offices as appropriate, and serve as a liaison to community mental health providers and services; Develop and maintain a database of referral resources and community services. Track students referred for mandated assessments; Provide clinical services such as individual and group therapy, intake assessments, supervision and training of intern/practicum graduate students, outreach programs, clinical consultation, and crisis intervention. Serve on University committees as assigned. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of community based mental health and substance abuse resources and experience coordinating services. Experience and knowledge of individual and group counseling methods and procedures; Demonstrated knowledge of consultation, outreach and crisis intervention and management; Knowledge of developmental characteristics of late adolescence and young adulthood and the unique difficulties confronting individuals in these stages of life; Established commitment to multicultural competencies. Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form; Personal attributes that facilitate effective interpersonal relations and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and community partners; Minimum Training and Experience Masters degree required in counseling or clinical psychology, mental health counseling or social work, with completion of appropriate course work and training in theories of personality, abnormal psychology, human development and alcohol/drug abuse and dependency; At least two years of clinical or case management experience (including practica or internship) working with individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse needs. Eligibility for licensure in the state of North Carolina as a mental health professional.
