BIO-ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY (OBESITY STUDIES)
To build already significant strength and interdisciplinary connections at Montclair State University, the new faculty is part of a cluster hiring initiative in Obesity Studies. This interdepartmental endeavor will bring in several new faculty to build on existing expertise to help create programs of national renown in Obesity Studies as a part of the Center for Quantitative Obesity Research (www.montclair.edu/csam/center-quantitative-obesity). The candidate will be expected to develop collaborative initiatives with the other faculty in the cluster. We seek outstanding applicants who can work across disciplines as part of a growing team initiative to pursue critical issues in this field. Other planned hires within this cluster include specialists in physiology, biostatistics, and numerical medical imaging.
The Department is specifically searching for a bio-analytical chemist, and candidates with experience in metabolomics and/or proteomics are especially encouraged to apply. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The candidate must have significant research experience and a strong commitment to teaching. The applicant is expected to assume an active role in curricular and program development for the department, play a significant role in department service and contribute to the College of Science and Mathematics and University community. The primary teaching responsibilities will be in General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry as well as graduate level courses. It is expected that a strong, externally funded research program will be developed that will include both graduate and undergraduate students and that leads to peer-reviewed, scholarly publications.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with expertise in the area of bio-analytical chemistry, postdoctoral experience or significant research experience and a strong commitment to teaching. Research experience and interest in the area of metabolomics and/or proteomics is a plus.
Salary Range Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience
