Placement Range: $9.80 - $10.30
General Description: The Head Lifeguard is responsible for performing a variety of duties. The work includes supervising the facility as well as all lifeguard staff, providing a constant vigil over patrons participating in assigned areas, rendering first aid, assisting the Aquatic Specialist and Coordinator in a variety of functions when assigned, instructing Lifeguard Training classes, assisting in the coordination and management of event staff, maintaining competitive equipment and performing maintenance and custodial duties. The Head Lifeguard will oversee the daily and special events' schedules. The Head Lifeguard will assist in the training and discipline of staff by adhering to College policies and procedure. The Head Lifeguard will perform other similar or related duties as necessary and required.
Minimum Education/Experience: Current Starguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent. Current Starguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days. Current ASHI, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council CPR certificate or equivalent. Current ASHI or American Red Cross First Aid & Safety certificate or equivalent. Previous lifeguard experience at a large Aquatic Facility Supervisory experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Positive human relations and oral communication skills. Ability to develop and implement ongoing in-service training programs. Ability to supervise others. Ability to discipline staff by adhering to College policies and procedures. Ability to activate and carryout the established Emergency Action Plan. Organizational skills. Must have the ability to obtain advanced First Aid certification.
