Position Summary: The Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) is a one-of-a-kind $730 million DOE Office of Science project at Michigan State University. It is the largest project ever granted to a university by the Department of Energy. The FRIB is currently recruiting for a Research Administrator II to join the Finance Department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to get in on the ground floor of an emerging DOE-SC national user facility. The successful candidate will develop, analyze, review, coordinate, and collect project data to support project requirements. Major Position Responsibilities: facilitate the administration, monitoring, and financial management of moderately complex research projects in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and University policies, procedures, and regulations; interpret, analyze, audit, and report on project data and cost accounting actual; review and audit project financial reports against the University's financial reporting systems; monitor project ongoing financials and budgets for accuracy; provide advise on ongoing stewardship of research funds; assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures; manage multiple assignments; deliver quality analysis under time constrained deadlines.

Support Staff: Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be obtained by completing a four-year college degree program in accounting, business administration, or finance; more than three years of experience in research administration, including the area of post-award processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires the ability to handle export controlled materials.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of Michigan State University policies and practices; ability to produce quality work under deadlines; good customer service skills; ability to clearly communicate with all within levels of the organization; understanding of federal regulations and the Federal Cost Policy with the ability to give guidance to laboratory employees on what is allowable; research administration experience working with DOE/NSF; experience with ERP systems (like EBS and IFS); ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality support to the team; technical aptitude to pick up new software with limited support and training; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
