Position Focus: Provides support and leadership in developing integrated processes, optimization models, standard operating procedures and policies, communication and marketing for all Yale Dining operations and SFAS (as needed). Serves as key strategic leader within Yale Dining in managing cross-departmental and major hospitality initiatives, develops new products, services and technology solutions tools to increase efficiencies, generate non-traditional revenue and support business operations and stakeholders. Reports directly to the Executive Director with a dotted line report to the Lead Administrator for Finance & Business Operations.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Directs one or more functional areas within an administrative department of the University and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and maintains a thorough understanding of Yale Dining business units and their operations. Provides leadership in developing design and process for integrated enterprise solutions for YD technology and operational needs.
2. Reviews reporting capabilities for various units. Ensures the correct information is being communicated in a timely way, and adjusts reporting parameters where necessary.
3. Directs analytic and research support for educational policies and planning and develops and approves administrative policies affecting assigned functional areas of the University and supports organization and outlet leaders in prioritizing and planning new business initiatives or changes. Proactively identifies and maps appropriate processes for business units, in order to improve efficiency and productivity.
4. Directs and establishes parameters for major projects for the department and University and documents existing processes throughout Yale Dining. Creates operations manuals with this information, for various departments within the organization. Ensures consistent application of solutions within the policies and practices of Yale Dining and the University.
5. Interprets federal policies and regulations and educates staff and administration about regulations, restrictions, and the legal responsibilities of the University.
6. Directs and implements policy and program modifications and develops standards to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
7. Develops and administers an operating budget for the assigned department consistent with University policies and procedures; Assesses level of financial and non-financial resources available for the unit to achieve its goals, e.g., funding, space, technology, staff capabilities and capacity. Recognizes and raises potential issues, ideas and solutions to unit Directors.
8. Develops cost savings objectives and goals; authorizes major purchases and negotiates contracts that range from routine to complex in nature. Helps plan and approves external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the food and beverage department, which seeks to increase non-traditional revenue sources.
9. Establishes and implements long and short range goals for the functional area consistent with University goals and objectives. Collaborates with Yale IT to develop new technology solutions, improve design and function of existing solutions, and integrate new Enterprise Technology tools with external communications tools.
10. Directs the development of related automated systems to support the function; determines office policies and procedures for use of automated systems.
11. Directs the evaluation and selection of vendors and negotiates contract details including work steps and pricing with the vendors on behalf of the assigned functional area.
12. Works with internal and external contacts to solve problems that range from routine to complex in nature. Prioritizes work activities and adapts for changing operating conditions. Takes calculated risks to accomplish goals.
13. Writes proposals for process improvement and communicates them to senior leadership team and unit managers. Includes all relevant stakeholders in planning, decision-making, and process improvement.
14. Represents the University in discussions and negotiations with various governmental agencies and supports Directors in their interactions with University and Labor Union, to adjust work assignments and requirements in accordance with strategic plans and upcoming projects.
15. May perform other duties as assigned.







Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
