Vacancy # 14E078 Position # 1431 The Office of International Programs at University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking applications for the position of Education Abroad/International Programs Advisor. Primary duties include but are not limited to the following: Advise students on selection of education abroad programs. Assist students with processes from inquiry, application, acceptance and beyond reentry. Advise students on matters of academic articulations, including transfer of credit, for education abroad. Support and advise students while abroad. Write, edit, and publicize virtual and hard-copy promotional materials. Present to UNCW and/or community clubs, organizations and classes. Supervise Study Abroad Fair Coordination and other campus programming. Serve as the primary advisor for UNCEP, ISEP, Oceania and Asia Programs as well as most Cameron School of Business programs. Conduct site visits to partner institutions and program sites abroad. Work with education abroad team in ongoing development, refinement and expansion of education. abroad related online tools, application and databases. Serve as Designated School Official with possible expansion to include Alternate Responsible Officer. Assist International Student Advisor as needed with processing new exchange student applications, course registration, and dissemination of student pre-arrival information. Minimum qualifications: A master's degree or its academic equivalent. Experience living, working, or studying abroad. Five years' professional experience working in international higher education. Excellent command of the English language, written and oral, and effective interpersonal communication skills, including sensitivity and diplomacy in dealing with people from numerous countries and cultures. Detail-oriented and able to work independently without direct supervision. A record of active participation in appropriate organizations (such as NAFSA, Forum on Education Abroad, EAIE, and their state and regional affiliates). Willingness to periodically travel domestically and internationally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with SEVIS and knowledge of J-1 and F-1 visa regulations. Preferred qualifications: Proficiency in a language in addition to English. Experience thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
