Position Summary/Purpose of Position: Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Provost, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Public Policy and responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial direction of the School. The Dean will work in close partnership with other deans and executive officers of the University. The Dean also receives guidance from the Board of Visitors of the School of Public Policy, a 14-member body spanning a wide spectrum of professional affiliations and experience. The Dean will engage faculty and staff to more clearly identify, define, and articulate the School’s priorities, brand, and strategic vision. The Dean will drive the School of Public Policy’s efforts to enhance its reputation in the nation and around the world, positioning it as a distinctive place for scholarship and educating the next generation of leaders in public policy and management. Accordingly, the Dean will provide innovative leadership to promote outstanding research and teaching programs and to build partnerships with policy makers, public officials, alumni, and business leaders that will enhance the student experience and bring significant new resources to the School. The person selected for this role will be an entrepreneurial and visionary leader who will inspire faculty, students, and staff to engage in the work of promoting the School’s upward trajectory. The person selected for this role will have a record of success in research, scholarship, or professional experience that would support an appointment to the rank of professor in the School.
