Position Summary: The Coordinator of Veterans Affairs manages and monitors the college's veteran student services to include serving as a direct resource or referral for admissions, financial aid, counseling, and career development. This individual certifies students for US Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits and assures compliance with federal, state and college directives in relation to veteran/dependent educational benefits.

Principle Accountabilities: Maintain knowledge of federal/state legislation, rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to Veteran student benefits. Serving as primary Certifying Official for Veteran students who have questions regarding VA Educational benefits including how to apply, obtain, and have benefits processed. Maintain records in conjunction with compliance to federal and state requirements and prepare records for corresponding audits. Prepares, monitors, and manages internal and external reports required to track student enrollment, progression, and utilization of funds. Develop and modify policies, procedures, and reports as needed to comply with institutional, federal, and state regulations. Communicate these policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. Serve as a Veteran Student advocate by creating, planning, and conducting programs to assist students with transition to Sinclair and referral to appropriate support services and resources. Collaboratively work to develop plans to recruit and retain veteran students at Sinclair. Supervises student workers paid through the Department of Veterans Affairs Work Study Program.

Requirements: *Minimum of a Bachelor's level degree required in Counseling, Education, Business Management, or related discipline is required. Master's level degree preferred *A minimum of 3 years work experience directly with veteran services or programs required *Current working knowledge of Veteran's Administration certification and military benefits required *Thorough knowledge of VA regulations and the State Approving Agency directives and *Ability to develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to align with regulatory guidelines *High level organizational and technological skills to manage and maintain appropriate reporting systems require; Knowledge of Datatel software preferred *Professional communication skills(to include but not limited to written and oral)to effectively with student veterans required *Current knowledge of local agencies that can assist veterans with needs other than education, i.e., housing, employment, professional counseling preferred *A high level of coordination and supervisory skills required
