Job Description Summary

The Executive Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development Division (WEDD) reports directly to the College President and serves as part of the executive team working in concert with other executive vice presidents: academic and student affairs, administration/ finance. This key position provides data and information to the Board of Trustees, College President and other units of the institution as appropriate for policy development and decision making purposes. This EVP is a key workforce and training representative to external agencies, consortia, partnerships, and regional workforce groups.



Job Responsibilities

The Executive Vice President of the Workforce and Economic Development Division serves as the workforce development and training officer who is responsible for shaping its strategic vision, outlining directions and developing a College-wide structure for the execution. This executive level professional is charged with providing leadership and proactive strategic oversight in utilizing state-of-the-art College training facilities, sites and campuses throughout Cuyahoga County.

In addition, this key college-wide leadership position collaborates and interfaces with the programs and the activities of two Corporate Colleges and its President as well as College-wide functions including but not limited to: long-term and short-term workforce development, technical education planning and related partnerships. The Executive Vice President has key responsibility for revenue generation to support four (4) revenue-based programs, credit programs, i.e. apprenticeships; open enrollment in training programs; contract training with area industry; and, government and foundation grants for entrepreneurial initiatives. This position has responsibility for successfully developing and implementing innovative business plans to expand a comprehensive portfolio of services and programs related to customized, manufacturing and union-based training as well as a wide array of training opportunities within the area’s service economy. The EVP of WEDD oversees and facilitates the development of new training programs, evaluates and revises current programs within the Division. The Executive leads on-going assessment of technical training needs for the Division. In addition, this position establishes internal and external partnerships including the creation of site-based advisory committees to guide in the development of policies, programs and services to meet the College’s role in regional workforce development activities.



Required Qualifications

Master’s degree

Demonstrated ability to lead strategic shaping of and engagement in creative program and curricula development for training and continuing education

Minimum of seven years of progressive experience with direct accountability for high technology, workforce training and demonstrated success in the management/operations of customized training to business, industry, labor, and the public sector

Possess highly developed analytical skills, writing and presentation skills, and ability to communicate with business/industry and educational management

Successful entrepreneurial experience in all facets of business planning, resource development, and the development of operation systems for service and program delivery

Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strategic alliances with governmental entities, businesses, and the community

Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy

Strong team building, interpersonal and communications skills necessary to lead in a complex organizational structure

Demonstrated record of building quality workforce training programs to increase enrollment and address student and community needs

High energy coupled with the ability to build and lead teams towards successful collaborations

Sensitivity to a socially and ethnically diverse community



Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in business, engineering, higher education or an appropriate field of study



Work Schedule

Standard College Hours of business 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday

Required to be flexible to work before and after hours as well as some weekends
