Position Summary: The Coordinator for Curriculum and Pedagogy will provide vision, leadership, expertise and execution of instructional design and other necessary steps to create a new, online, global MPH program. He/she also will support faculty professional pedagogy development. This position will report directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Gillings School of Global Public Health (SPH) (http: www.sph.unc.edu ) is ranked the number two school of public health in the country (U.S. News & World Report, 2011). We are the top public school of public health. In addition, several departments have excellent rankings, including Nutrition, ranked among the top percentile in the NRC doctoral programs and Health Policy and Management's master's program, ranked second in online degree programs of this kind by U.S. News & World Report. Environmental Sciences and Engineering is ranked in the top environmental engineering programs even though UNC does not have a school of engineering. In seven departments and one interdisciplinary program, the SPH has about 1750 students and over 50 different degrees and certificates, including professional and academic programs that are offered as online learning and residential formats.

Education Requirements: Doctorate in Adult Education, Higher Education, Curriculum & Instructional Design, Distributed Distance Online Learning, or related field

Qualification and Experience: 1. At least 5 years' curriculum experience 2. Experience with public health curriculum is preferred 3. Knowledge, understanding of and commitment to diversity and inclusion as they relate to curriculum design, pedagogy and related issues 4. Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team and participate in consultative decision making 5. Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse learners and examination of learning materials and classroom methodologies for inclusion 6. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills 7. Track record of problem-solving and managing projects 8. Exemplary record of teaching and use of innovative teaching practices 9. Evidence of strategic leadership in an environment of shared governance involving multiple stakeholders 10. Demonstrated skill in clear, effective communication both oral and writing with diverse constituencies
