The Epstein lab researches microbial discovery in the environment and human microbiome. We uncover novel microbial life forms by inventing novel cultivation strategies that depart from conventional wisdom and provide access to the greatest part of microbial diversity: unexplored species missed in the past. We study properties of new environmental and medically important microorganisms, and their strategies of survival. The employee will perform multiple microbiology procedures including Microbial cultivation, DNA extraction, and PCR. The employee will also maintain lab inventories and equipment, as well as assist with ordering laboratory supplies.
Position requires a BS in Biology. Knowledge of microbiology techniques, experience in microbial cultivation, good organizational skills, and ability to work independently are desirable.
