Public Info Specialist
Full/Part Time: Part-Time
To perform the ETD/manuscript review and related functions required at the Graduate School; to coordinate updating of administrative documentation such as forms, policies, program descriptions, etc; and to assist in gathering and creating social media content such as photos of campus events, finding articles of interest to various defined audiences, etc.
Reviewing all of the University's theses and dissertations for proper formatting and meta-data, answering student questions about formatting, deadlines, procedures, etc. E/30%
Develop and conduct workshop and create tools (templates, etc.) that educate graduate students, faculty and staff about the manuscript process, maintain written instructions on the web, etc. E/25%
Update Graduate School policies and forms using MS Word and Adobe Acrobat; periodically review forms and policies to ensure they are up-to-date. E/10%
Social media/communications; review Graduate School web content to make sure it is current, update where necessary; mine and distribute (via social media) relevant new and information for alumni and current grad students; cover events on campus to generate info/photos for social media. E/30%
Proofreading and other duties as assigned. E/5%
A bachelor's degree in a related field.
PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Communications.
PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 20; Band: 04; the salary for this position is $16,000
TIME-LIMITED PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION
Employees who are in time limited positions will earn one and one-quarter days of Annual and Sick Leave per month for a total of thirty (30) days per year. Eligible part-timers will earn days on a pro rata basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; strong attention to detail; excellent grammar and verbal and written communications; familiarity with social media channels; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
