Position Summary

The Chicago campus currently has an opening for an Assistant Registrar. The position of Assistant Registrar requires an individual who is an articulate, organized, dynamic and enthusiastic team player dedicated to representing The Chicago School in a professional manner with all constituents. This position will be responsible for providing guidance, assistance, and programming typical of a registration and records office for incoming and continuing students. The position will work closely with the offices of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Admissions, and individual academic program offices, as well as perform various responsibilities as assigned.



Principal Duties:



Maintain expert knowledge of university policies for interpretation and application related to program requirements, transfer credit evaluation, registration and records.


Advise and counsel students, staff, advisors and administrators regarding educational policy requirements and alternatives for resolving procedural problems, and the ability to recommend exceptions to policy when appropriate--and to communicate denial of student requests, when necessary.


Coordinate with colleagues in the registrar area regarding the development and maintenance of processes as needed.


Serve as a member of registrar team, assisting with the development and implementation of goals and objectives, strategies, assessment of resources, evaluation of student services tools including web, front line services, etc.


Provide one-stop service to students in areas including but not limited to: academic requirements, degree audit information, academic calendar, ePortal information, policies, processes, and registration/academic information, transcripts, diplomas, Clearinghouse requests, other enrollment verifications.


Assist the registrar with final grades, enrollment statuses such as LOA and withdrawal, quality control, commencement, orientation, registration reports, and other duties as assigned.


Other duties as assigned.



Position Qualifications


In-depth knowledge of the FERPA regulation


Demonstrated experience/ability to positively function in a complex, fast-paced environment, deal with deadlines, and meet student demands


Excellent oral and written communication skills


Experience in a higher education setting, particularly in a Registrar’s Office or Student Records


Experience with higher education administrative software and web services


Ability to use standard office equipment and support systems: telephone, copier, fax, pc and related software, printers, etc.
