GENERAL DUTIES

Develops and administers processes and policies regarding Human Resources. 

- Advises employees and managers on Human Resources policies and guidelines; provides a high level of customer service in assisting members of the College community

- Supervises and administers one or more human resources programs such as recruiting, pay administration, employee orientation, employee benefits, data entry and recordkeeping, and performance appraisal/reappointment practices

- Maintains an in-depth understanding of CUNY rules and regulations, relevant laws and guidelines, collective bargaining agreements, and College policies, and applies these to his/her areas of responsibility

- Investigates regarding sensitive employee issues or complaints  

- Helps create innovative communications such as manuals, web pages, or employee meetings and provides these to the College community

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Preparing or maintaining employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, promotions, salary increases, and performance evaluations for classified employees using CUNYfirst.
- Onboarding employees and processing hiring-related paperwork.
- Conferring with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
- Compiling and preparing reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Supervising and training staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have a proficient knowledge of Peoplesoft/Oracle and/or HRIS systems with computer skills
- Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Knowledge of business and management principles involve in strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership technique
- Experience in a public sector for human resources department
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
- Ability to multitask

Commensurate with education and experience.
