The Industrial Hygiene Specialist position is part of the Campus and Clinical Division of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and reports to the Industrial Hygiene Manager. This position is primarily based on the Charles River Campus while remaining flexible in assignments across all locations and departments served by EHS including conducting industrial hygiene duties at the Medical Campus. Conduct fume hood assessments, general ventilation assessments, respirator fit testing, trainings, ergonomic assessments, odor investigations, noise surveys, eyewash/safety shower inspections, IH equipment maintenance and other tasks that support the industrial hygiene programs at Boston University and Boston Medical Center. Work with other EHS divisions as needed with other EHS related tasks.

Required Skills

B.A./B.S. in a related field and one to three years of relevant experience, the ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on-call emergency response team. Should have or be able to obtain the 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training. This position requires completion of a pre-placement physical questionnaire and on-site physical and medical surveillance upon hire.
