Under direction and supervision of the Associate Director, the N.U.in Program, the Assistant Director will serve as a lead administrator for The N.U.in Program, an innovative international program that sends Spring-admitted Northeastern University students abroad for the fall term. The N.U.in Assistant Director works collaboratively and collectively with the Associate Director, faculty, and other collegiate partners to help provide students with a clear and successful pathway from initial interest to on-site experience to their transition to Northeastern University. S/he will serve as an advocate and liaison for the N.U.in participants to both internal and external constituencies. Overall, the Assistant Director will promote success for the N.U. in participants, while maintaining the mission of NU Global and Northeastern University.
The primary focus of this position is to coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operational processes and manage a team of Program Coordinators/Location Specialists. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the management and professional development of the team of N.U.in Program Coordinators who are accountable for various daily tasks and responsibilities which include remote site administration, pre-departure orientations, student outreach, yield / marketing activities, communications and hiring remote site staff.
Additionally, the Assistant Director will be responsible for Program communications to participants and the N.U. in Staff. Through social media as well as the N.U. in website, the Assistant Director will take an active role in helping to enhance the existing communication network to better serve the N.U. in participants and staff.
A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a track record of strong academic performance. Advanced degree preferred. Four to six years of higher education administrative experience and experience working with international students is required. In addition, this role will require a high level of understanding of process flows and the ability to work well in a team environment with limited supervision. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment. Customer service experience is essential. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, counseling and communication skills are required.
Candidate must have strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, ACCESS, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal and writing skills. Candidate must be able to exercise sharp critical thinking skills and sound judgment. Candidate must be detail oriented and have strong organization, prioritization, time management, and follow-through skills.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population. Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours at various locations required. Must be willing to travel.
