Job Description: To provide a visible deterrent against crime within the university community, enforce parking and traffic laws; make initial criminal investigations and reports; identify, apprehend and arrest criminal offenders. Respond to non-criminal incidents on university property to render assistance and also assist surrounding Law Enforcement agencies as needed.

Required Qualifications: Ability to:
-Ability to read and interpret reports and understand policy
and procedures
-Ability to write grammatically correct reports
-Ability to work as a team member.
-Ability to interact courteously even in a controversial
-Ability to communicate with the public
-Ability to conduct campus security checks.
-Ability to enforce traffic laws and issue citations.
-Ability to respond to calls for assistance.
-Ability to perform basic math.
-Work flexible hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
-Ability to pass a Physical Assessment Test

Required documentation:
Pass driving record check; provide a Personal History Statement; undergo a criminal background investigation; provide a valid Texas Driver's License; Must possess a high school diploma/GED; 60 college credit hours or an Associate's Degree; provide a current certification as a Peace Officer as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE); State and Federal laws, traffic and parking laws.

Preferred Qualifications: -Ability to investigate criminal incidents, motor vehicle
collisions and alarms.
-Ability to ensure proper procedures for the apprehension of
suspects is followed.
-Ability to utilize Microsoft Application and the Internet
-Bachelors Degree.
-Knowledge of University Policy and Procedures.
-Knowledge of Board of Regents rules and regulations
-Work experience in University environment.

Additional Information for Applicants: Employment with Texas State University is contingent upon the outcome of a criminal history background check, drug/alcohol test and passing strength and agility test, WorkSTEPS.

Must be able to work flexible hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
