The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Classical Studies with expertise in the field of Roman history focusing on relations between Rome and the eastern provinces. The successful candidate will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels on historical subjects, including fields such as epigraphy or papyrology, incorporating the standard Latin and Greek languages. We are particularly interested in candidates who would strengthen connections with programs in such areas as Archaeology, Religious Studies, and/or the Ancient Near East. Must have a PhD in Ancient History or a related field with a specialization in Roman and Near East studies as well as a strong record of publications.
