Posting Description: *Job Responsibilities:* Graphic and Web Design for Marketing Communications - Duties involve developing a design concept to meet marketing and communications goals, researching printing costs, gathering information and writing or editing content in conjunction with the "client" or unit, implementing the design and layout, proofreading, and managing final production by the printer. - Collaborate with the Arts and Sciences Communications and Alumni Relations team Communicators Group, which meets regularly to promote brand strategy and coordinate communication practices throughout the college - Serve as an integral part of the decision-making process for upcoming projects, services and direction that have e-media components. - Oversee the development, implementation and timeline of website projects, i.e., managing A&S curriculum website, managing doc vault for A&S offices in conjunction with A&S IT unit (ASIT). - Oversee technological solutions and product selection, such as web hosting options, development tools and languages. - Interface with ASIT and OIT. - Provide advanced WordPress and Drupal CMS development. - Provide PHP development services for Dean's Office sites. - Provide mark-up (HTML5, CSS3), javascript and other front-end development solutions. - Produce system of importing RSS feed or similar input from the campus Office of News Services into the A&S magazine news feed; produce system of exporting in-house content from A&S site to ONS. - Convert current A&S site from WordPress CMS to Drupal or provide solutions to all issues that arise as a result of A&S using CMS that differs from campus standard. - Gather and analyze user stats to determine use patterns for usability improvements. - Design and develop user-centric information architecture for websites and web applications. Percentage of time: 50 Web, Broadcast Email and Social Media Maintenance - Assume primary responsibility for updating and enhancing the college website and the A&S magazine website. - Make content updates to the various internal and external Dean's Office websites, such as names, units, policies, documents, etc. - Perform ongoing web maintenance by making sure all A&S website pages function properly and are up to date. - Oversee and create art for A&S publications;maintain the collection, and managing all its manipulations (sizing, cropping, photoshopping, formatting). - Manage the web, print, and media services for the Dean's Office. - Perform ongoing web maintenance by making sure all A&S website pages function properly and are up to date, posting textual and other revisions as needed. - Develop electronic newsletters and invitations as part of Arts and Sciences Communications and Alumni Relations team. - Assist college departments and programs with their web sites. These duties involve working knowledge of various web applications and design principles to make the most of this electronic medium. - Develop multimedia enhancements for the college web and social networking sites; oversee and maintain social networking presence to meet strategic communication goals. - Serve as primary content aggregator for and producer of all A&S social-media outlets. - Serve as primary designer, assembler and producer of all email blasts disseminated from the college's bulk-email system. - Manage and monitor the College's contact databases. - Monitor and analyze e-mail blast statistics to inform communication decisions. - Gather and analyze user stats to determine use patterns for usability improvements. - Provide technical training to staff members if needed. Percentage of time: 35 Special Events and media creation and management - Develop communication materials to support and publicize various special events, and assists other team members with planning and coordinating special events, which might include alumni-outreach events coordinated by the dean's office. - Provide photography, illustration and video services at the direction of the Director of Communications and External Relations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree At least two years' experience in journalism, communications, graphic design, or public relations Two years' experience with website creation and electronic and print publications Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe applications (lndesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and programming languages such as PHP, Javascnpt, etc. Ability to hand code HTML and CSS
