The department of Engineering Science and Physics of the College of Staten Island, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with qualifications and expertise in the field of Electrical Engineering. This position is anticipated to begin in September 2014. Responsibilities for this position include teaching; establishing a strong externally funded research program; advising students; and performing department and college service.

The College of Staten Island is a 204-acre landscaped campus, the largest in New York City. It is fully accessible from the other boroughs of the City and New Jersey by car and public transportation. In addition to the 43 undergraduate and 15 master's degree programs, CSI participates in the doctoral programs of The City University Graduate School and University Center in: Biology (Neuroscience), Computer Science, Physics, Physical Therapy, Polymer Chemistry and Psychology (Learning Processes). Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline is required, with areas of interest that include but are not limited to energy/power systems, sensory systems, micro-electronics, optics, telecommunications, signal and image processing, biomedical systems, parallel and distributed computing. The selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach successfully; evidence of scholarship; and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Candidates should have an interest in developing and maintaining instructional laboratories. The successful candidate should be able to present credentials appropriate for appointment to CUNY doctoral faculty. Postdoctoral or industrial experience is preferred.
