The Department of Psychology at Baruch College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in social psychology to begin August 2014. The particular area of research interest within social psychology is open.

Candidates will have earned a doctorate in social psychology by August 1, 2014. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in quantitative methods. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in social psychology, personality psychology, and research methods at the undergraduate level as well as courses related to his/her area of expertise; establish an active research program with the potential for top tier publications and external funding; have a strong interest in initiating and guiding undergraduate and graduate student research; and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty. Candidates will also have the opportunity to teach doctoral courses in the Basic and Applied Social Psychology area at CUNY's Graduate Center.

The Baruch College Psychology Department houses undergraduate psychology programs, masters programs in mental health counseling and industrial and organizational psychology as well as CUNY's doctoral program in industrial and organizational psychology. The Department of Psychology has 21 full-time faculty members who represent the traditional areas of psychology (e.g., clinical, cognitive, social). Baruch College is ideally situated in the historic Gramercy Park district of Manhattan, offering easy access to New York's world-class cultural attractions.


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
