Position Focus: The Associate University Registrar for Student Support manages the registration, enrollment, transcript, records, and degree progress functions, and supports many advising systems for a diverse and decentralized community. Many transformative projects are planned or beginning for student support including streamlining registration, implementing electronic transcripts and degree audit, and designing new or improved advising tools. This a great opportunity for a creative, technically savvy candidate with excellent management, team player, communication, and political skills.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Serves as the principal professional resource and manages the daily operations of one or more office units with a primary focus on customer service.
2. Provides leadership in the ongoing effort to improve service to and for our distributed constituents. Assists in the development of a long-range strategic plan for improving distributed support services.
3. Hires, trains and mentors new office staff. Participates in the design of curriculum and implementation of training programs to promote best practices.
4. Manages assigned staff; proactively ensures that ideas and directives are understood and accepted; defines and publishes formal policies and procedures; establishes explicit, tangible performance measures and develops formal agreements about regular interaction.
5. Provides leadership in the design, development, maintenance, refinement, enhancement and deployment of academic processes and systems.
6. Champions the use of university-wide systems for common functions to improve data quality, eliminate shadow systems and reduce maintenance efforts and cost
7. Supports departments in the development and publication of their curriculum and course information as well as their academic progress monitoring.
8. Assists in the development of reporting capabilities to meet analytic and programmatic objectives.
9. Provides effective communications written and oral with departments, faculty, students and staff.
10. Provides professional support and consultation to relevant faculty committees.
11. Meets university and external compliance requirements.
12. May perform other duties as assigned.







Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and six years of central registrar's office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated expertise in registration, academic records, and student records privacy (FERPA) policy and procedures.

Required Skill/Ability 2: Technical expertise, including proficiency in working with integrated administrative software, software applications, reporting tools and spreadsheet applications.

Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and foster collaboration among a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a large, complex academic environment.

Required Skill/Ability 4: Strong managerial/supervisory skills and aspirations.

Required Skill/Ability 5: Expert knowledge of complex academic policies and procedures such as curriculum, registration, enrollment, classrooms, grading, assessment or scheduling. Familiarity with issues that influence higher education and/or the profession.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: 1. Knowledge of student information systems such as: Banner, CollegeNet R25 scheduling software, and DegreeWorks.
2. Experience in a decentralized (Research 1 University) and advanced degree.
