Office of Enrollment Management: Data Analyst The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, seeks a problem-solver to join its research area as a data analyst. Under the supervision of the Director of Enrollment Research and Analysis, the data analyst supports the functional offices of Admission, Bursar, Student Financial Assistance, and the Registrar, as well as OEM, by supplying coordinated information to decision makers. The successful candidate for this position will have a passion for accuracy coupled with an understanding of the complexity of data questions. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Running existing and writing new reports from institutional databases; fulfilling ad hoc data requests; validating or testing data and reports received from other offices; constructing and maintaining graphs, e.g. daily application counts by state, daily confirmation counts by division, daily cancellations by residency, etc.; creating and updating enrollment and recruitment maps; linking data from multiple sources; cleaning, coding, and archiving survey, recruitment, and enrollment data; writing and organizing documentation for Miami’s OEM Processes and Procedures manual; learning new software as needed. Miami’s OEM research office values critical thinking skills, a sharp eye for detecting discrepancies, creative problem-solving, a commitment to data transparency, an understanding of the need to clarify questions, and a service-oriented approach to addressing the data needs of the office and the university. Require: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and data experience; proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, formulas, functions, and charts; skill at creating clear, accurate representation of data; ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies; good written and oral communication skills. Desire: strong background in mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative field; experience working in a higher education setting; background in SQL programming; experience with Tableau software; experience with Access databases; working knowledge of Banner or another integrated student information system; experience with query tools; experience using national databases, e.g. census data or IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System).
