FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The interdisciplinary Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at the City College of New York (CCNY) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in behavioral research, public opinion, attitudes, public policy or related field for appointment to the Department of Psychology at the rank of assistant professor. The appointment will begin in September 2014. 

The appointment will be to the Department of Psychology, which has a longstanding commitment to serving the needs of a highly diverse student body as well as the surrounding Harlem community. The appointee will also have teaching and management responsibilities in Colin Powell School's Public Service Management Program which prepares students, many from groups underrepresented in public service, for management jobs in government and nonprofit organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Ph.D. in psychology, economics, or a related field is required, with a strong quantitative and behavioral focus.
- A record of research and scholarship around policy issues facing minority, immigrants, and underserved populations.  Applicants with interests in the behavioral economics of mental health and mental health care choices are especially welcomed.
- Experience directing nonprofit, academic, or government programs. The position carries responsibility for directing several PSM activities, including participating in faculty hiring, reviewing faculty performance, and developing curricula.
- Strong potential for developing an externally funded research program with a demonstrated history or interest in interdisciplinary collaboration to complement current departmental areas of focus in clinical translational research. 
- Knowledge of public management programs.
- Strong background in applied quantitative methods, statistics and research methods.
- Experience working in diverse academic environments.
