FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:
- Teach graduate and undergraduate science methods courses in the Science Education M.S.Ed. / BS program.
- Work with the Science Departments on campus to coordinate course offerings and participate in STEM initiatives and grant opportunities and programs on campus.
- Mentor and advise students in the program.
- Help and assist in coordination of special programs, including the NYC Teaching Fellows and any other special programs that are currently running or are slated to be running in the future; collaborate across departments; and foster school/college partnerships.
- Work with the ePortfolio, TaskStream, and NYS Teacher Performance Assessment initiatives.
- Supervise students in their field placements.
- Assist with NCATE accreditation reviews and program development, including a new Middle School track.
- Participate in college, division, and department service.
- Participate in student recruitment, application, and admissions processes.

Faculty will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Lehman College based centers and institutes on research and other projects of scholarly interest.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:
- College and Secondary level public school teaching experience in urban settings with diverse populations; knowledge of state-of the-science technology and pedagogy
- Eligibility to teach in the CUNY system
- University level academic advisement and coordination experience
- Secondary level teaching experience
- Experience with special education
- Master's degree, equivalent, or higher in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics) with experience in 7-12 science/STEM teaching and teacher education
