Clinical Positions in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine - Eating Disorders
University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number: JPF11318
The Department of Pediatrics and Mattel Children's Hospital of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks a faculty member at the Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Professor levels to join the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine in the Health Sciences series (rank commensurate with academic qualifications). Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Med-Peds. Board certification in Adolescent Medicine is preferred but not required.
The clinical duties involve outpatient care for youth up to age 26, primarily in our Nourish for Life multidisciplinary clinic, a comprehensive eating disorder treatment program. Duties also include effort for inpatient care at our Medical Stabilization Program (MSP) at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, where the incumbent will be part of our rotating faculty group covering the MSP service, including weekends and holidays. This position includes creative work, such as research in the incumbent's area of interest that will lead to academic promotion. Our department also includes a robust health services research group with an emphasis on delivery of care, racial justice, health care disparities, immigrant health, school education, and multi-system approaches to health care.
The incumbents will also have an important role in medical education for Adolescent Medicine fellows, residents (from pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, family medicine, and internal medicine) and medical students. The overall percent effort in clinical care, research, and education will be negotiable based on funding and the needs of the Department.
The David Geffen School of Medicine provides ample opportunities for professional development as well as education and research. The DGSOM has recently redesigned the medical student curriculum such that there are new roles for educators taking students for longitudinal teaching in both clinical and research settings. The Department of Pediatrics has over 30 divisions and programs. The Department is the home of the Children's Discovery & Innovation (CDI) Institute, which promotes research, funding, and training activities related to improving children's health and health care, spanning from research discoveries in basic science through translation to clinical care and implementation in community practice. A unique feature of UCLA is the presence of the Center for the Health Sciences (CHS) complex, which includes the UCLA Medical Center, School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, and California NanoSystems Institute, all on the same campus as the Division of Life Sciences, 7 other professional schools, and the largest undergraduate student enrollment in the UC system. UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital is consistently ranked as one of the best children's hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Annually, Mattel Children's Hospital serves more than 6,000 inpatients and 40,000 outpatients of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Cultural North Star: The shared values of the DGSOM are expressed in the Cultural North Star, which was developed by members of our community and affirms our unswerving commitment to doing what's right, making things better, and being kind.
