Job Summary
The Clubs Supervisor is responsible for overseeing 8-10 student-run clubs, training, developing, and directing the work of volunteers to lead in programs and initiatives. The position also requires coordinating campus-wide events, maintaining paperwork, and ensuring the effective execution of programming within established policies and budgets. Additionally, the Clubs Supervisor mentors club officers in their leadership responsibilities and works closely with the Clubs Student Manager and other full-time employees to ensure success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervises 8-10 Clubs: Trains, develops, and directs the work of volunteers to lead in programs and initiatives.
  • Participates in council to review, set, and maintain area policies/procedures and direction for Clubs programming.
  • Coordinates and works well with full-time SLS employees assigned to Clubs on a daily basis.
  • Plans, coordinates, supports, and attends campus-wide events for Clubs (such as World Fest, Food Fest, Culture Night, etc.), in collaboration with Clubs, support team, and Student Events Team.
  • Files and maintains all progressive paperwork for a project from inception to completion.
  • Coordinates all levels of events/programming within a prescribed budget and policies/procedures (including, but not limited to: proposals, goals and expenses, EAFs, and MRFs).
  • Prepares and distributes assessments to measure overall programming effectiveness.
  • Attends 1-1 weekly stewardship meetings with Clubs Student Manager.
  • Attends weekly/monthly Club Leadership Team meetings for strategic planning, monthly data, and assessment review with the Clubs Coordinator.
  • Mentors Club officers in their leadership responsibilities, including but not limited to trainings, individual meetings, resolution of disputes, direction on projects/programs, and instruction in leadership development course.
  • Keeps regular office hours for SLS, Clubs team, and student and volunteer appointments to ensure administrative responsibilities are realized.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships of trust with the Club Presidencies.
  • Supports the Clubs Student Manager in his/her duties and completes delegated tasks as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned for the greater good of the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required: 3.0+ GPA
  • Enrolled in 14+ credits per semester or 9 credits for spring (consideration may be given for those on qualified leave of absence or reduced course load).
  • 2 Consecutive semesters on campus.
  • Lives and is exemplary in upholding the Honor Code, mission, and vision of BYU-Hawaii Campus and SLS Department.
  • Experience in an office setting with a high level of organizational capability.
  • Will work 19 hours/week with some nights and weekends required.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office specifically Word (or other word processing software), Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in customer service skills.
  • Leadership experience, specifically in supervising and mentoring the work of others.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Experience multi-tasking and efficient time management.
  • Experience in project management, proposals, data assessments, and evaluations.
  • Experience conducting 1-1 and collective team meetings.
  • Understanding of servant leadership principles.

Preference for candidates who can give a 1-year commitment.

Desired:

  • Good understanding of BYUH Campus Administration.
  • Experience supervising various teams.
  • Experience working within a budget.
  • Previous experience with public speaking or presentation skills.
  • Previous experience with mediation or conflict resolution.
  • Preference for candidates with previous experience or leadership within a Club presidency.

Commitment Date
This position requires a 1-year commitment (Starting 2025 Winter to 2026 Spring). The position will re-open after spring 2026 and be eligible for re-application.
