Job Description:
The Leadership Annual Giving Officer is responsible for developing relationships with W&L alumni, parents, and friends, to solicit annual gifts that are critical to meeting the W&L Fund goal. The W&L Fund provides a critical piece of the school's annual operation budget. The Leadership Annual Giving Officer is part of a collaborative fundraising team.

Essential Functions:
  • Work to acquire, renew, and upgrade leadership level annual giving donors through individual cultivation and solicitation. Travel to areas with a high concentration of prospects to cultivate and solicit those with capacity to give at The President's Society (TPS) level and higher on an annual basis.
  • Coordinate with team members to develop and execute a communication strategy for donor renewals and prospects. Assist in creating content for focused communications.
  • Complete 160+ meaningful and strategic donor visits each fiscal year. Donor visits may be in-person, by phone or by video call.
  • Carry out solicitations through direct mail, email, phone calls, and video calls that create highly personalized experiences for each leadership giving prospect.
  • Attend weekly and monthly team meetings. Meet regularly with directors and team members to ensure full coverage of outreach to donors and prospects and to maximize opportunities through non-Reunion, Reunion classes, and associated volunteers.
  • Report on outreach and progress of proposals through the Advancement CRM database.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the unrestricted giving pyramid.
  • Steward leadership donors and volunteers during Advancement events while maintaining a primary focus on soliciting and closing new annual fund commitments.
  • Participate in staff and University Advancement events.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Two years of related experience is desired, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting, or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset would be achieved.
  • Ability to travel to perform job functions, up to 50% of the time
  • Must demonstrate high-energy, motivation and determination.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, the ability to listen effectively, and outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be organized, able to work collaboratively and strategically, and be a talented motivator of volunteers.
  • Knowledge client relationship management principles and donor database systems (particularly Slate or Rasier's Edge) is beneficial. Experience using data to evaluate and plan is essential.
  • Must have the ability to manage strategic objectives while attending to details. Demonstrated ability to meet targets and goals.
  • Experience with publications and development marketing communications is highly desirable.
