Job Summary

The incumbents highest priority will be to serve as the specialist in preparing and developing the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop (NRCW) that is held on the ABAC Tifton campus for one week during the month of June. The candidate will also assist with the intake of documentation, coordination and training of other ABAC camps and workshops. This position operates in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The ability to be highly adaptable while paying attention to detail is necessary. This is a part-time non-benefitted position.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Assists in preparing and developing the NRCW with the assistance of the NRCW Director
  • Maintains financial records of camps and workshops and monitoring the accounts including the ABAC Business Office and ABAC Foundation account
  • Coordinates and administers the NRCW Scholarship fund that is at the ABAC Foundation
  • Assist the NRCW Director with preparation of the annual budget.
  • Prepares workshop budget report based on actual revenue and expenditures and perform a presentation to the NRCW Executive Committee
  • Coordinates with ABAC Venues and Events to secure housing and dining needs for camps and workshops
  • Responsible for coordinating with ABAC Marketing and Communications for the promotion of the camps and workshops on the ABAC website and social media.
  • Assistance with maintaining electronic and traditional files for camps and workshops
  • Prepares signage, registration and any participants records/forms needed to attend camps and workshops
  • Safeguards the confidentiality of College, departmental, or office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, and staff, and handling departmental records and files, personnel actions, performance evaluations, and similar confidential materials
  • Assistance with organization and coordination of all college camps and workshops
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Must be able to communicate information clearly and concisely in person and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion and professional demeanor Confidentiality is imperative.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, gather, prepare, and summarize data from a variety of sources.
  • Must work independently and accurately with attention to detail, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize accordingly.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and the ability to develop competency using additional software as needed
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.

CONTACTS

  • Contacts are typically with Executive Committee of the NRCW, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, NRCW Director, other college personnel, parents, and members of the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee may have to lift a box of folders or light office objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
  • During the camp and workshop periods, the employee will not be allowed to take vacation leave. This person should be available at all times to assist during the time period of the camp and workshop taking place on the ABAC campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position or responsibilities for two or more years.
