Job Responsibilities

Trident Technical College is seeking Welding Instructors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching courses by providing systematically planned and delivered instruction, designing and developing curriculum, evaluating student performance, and advising students. Teaching assignments may include curriculum courses taught during days and evenings on campus and off-site.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires an associate degree in welding technology or a closely related field and relevant work experience, or a high school diploma plus five (5) years of work experience that includes welding training and teaching the theory and application of the following processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, oxyacetylene cutting (OAC), and plasma-arc cutting (PAC). An equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience may also be considered. All qualified applicants must pass a welding test. Candidates who possess only a high school diploma must complete an associate degree within two (2) years of hire. Additionally, qualified applicants must successfully complete welding performance tests in the SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have an associate degree in welding technology or a closely related field plus (3) three years of work experience. Practical knowledge and experience in all welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW [including pulse-spray] and FCAW). Must be able to track purchase requisitions and other budget/shipping/receiving documents. Must be able to successfully pass a welding skills test in all processes taught within the program. Candidate must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology, policies, and procedures in the field of education. Strong communication interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential.
