POSITION: Full-Time English Faculty (Assistant Professor): Department of English; Division of Liberal Arts; Tenure Track; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours per week; MCCC/MTA Unit Faculty Position

SUMMARY: The Department of English is seeking a dynamic and engaging English educator to teach composition, with particular emphasis on teaching composition classes and teaching Early College classes as needed. The purpose of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education's Early College Initiative is to create and maintain partnerships connecting our state's districts and high schools with our state's colleges in order to give thousands of Massachusetts students, especially first-generation college-goers, access to college completion and career success. Early College programs are intentionally designed to empower students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. MA Early College Designated Programs work to blend elements of high school and college to provide students with the opportunity to experience and complete college level academic coursework on a clearly articulated pathway and simultaneously gain exposure to a variety of career opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Teach primarily ENG101 and ENG102 courses in various modalities, including Early College sections
  • Participate and effectively collaborate in departmental meetings and activities, including academic assessment
  • Teach assigned classes on NECC's Haverhill and Lawrence campuses
  • Align assigned Early College classes and teaching practices with the intentionally designed program goals the DHE Early College program
  • When necessary, teach a portion of assigned classes on location at Early College partner high school campuses
  • Participate in curriculum and online course development
  • Attend division, department, and other required meetings
  • Participate in college service
  • Serve as academic advisor to assigned students
  • Maintain office hours


Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in English or related field
  • Experience teaching English at community college
  • Experience using technology in instruction and assessment
  • Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to teaching and responding to the educational needs of community college students, including Early College
  • Commitment to instruction attuned to equity mindedness and student success
  • Ability to teach with and contribute positively to a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience teaching Early College classes
  • Experience teaching a variety of English courses, including Technical Writing
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.

Additional Information:
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $58,438.00 - $68,681.00 (Rank of Assistant Professor with a Master's degree) per academic year with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
