Position Summary Geffen Academy at UCLA seeks a Manager, Student Counseling and Learning Services to support students with diverse learning styles/needs and to support educators in their efforts to ensure all students have pathways to success in their classrooms. Specifically, the Manager, Student Counseling and Learning Services collaborates with and assists Division Directors, Academic Deans, and the Dean of Students team with implementing effective research-based strategies, developing practices to ensure instruction is accessible, and upholds the provision of accommodations for the Middle School and Upper School (grades 6-12) students. The Manager, Student Counseling and Learning Services also reviews and interprets student assessment results, from which they create a Student Support Plan. The Manager, Student Counseling and Learning Services has general oversight and development of the Middle School and Upper School caseload of students with social emotional or learning needs. This person will report to the Associate Head of School, with final jurisdiction of the Head of School. In addition, the Manager, Student Counseling and Learning Services, will work closely with the Learning Specialist and two School Counselors to provide guidance, direction, collaboration and supervision. Qualifications 5 - 7 years' experience working in a secondary school environment. (Required) And 1 - 3 years' experience supervising employees. (Required) Ability to work independently and manage many projects at once, while utilizing appropriate resources. (Required) Ability to learn new processes/procedures quickly and move initiatives forward. (Required) Excellent written and oral communication with strong presentation skills. (Required) Ability to work with data and generating database reports, and strong proficiency with Google Docs and Excel. (Required) Demonstrated skills in problem identification, sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking, and creative problem solving. (Required) Excellent leadership, management, and supervisory skills with the ability to manage a diverse population of employees. (Required) Knowledge of student risk assessment principles, and the ability to evaluate risks and the likelihood of consequences. (Required) Advanced knowledge of the theories and practice of counseling, learning, human and career development. (Required) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels. (Required) Advanced experience in multicultural competencies, in working with historically underrepresented and underserved communities, including mediating, managing and resolving conflicts; facilitating group work; and training students and staff. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Master's Degree in social work, counseling, education, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required) Or PhD in Education or related field.
