Job Summary
The Department of Psychology at Columbus State University seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology. The start date for this position is August 1, 2025. Preference given to applications received before November 15th, but review of applications will continue until position is filled.
Responsibilities
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and student success. Candidates will be expected to teach introductory psychology courses as well as upper-level courses in their specialty. Preference will be given to candidates who can expand the department's undergraduate course offerings related to counseling, clinical, and lifespan development areas of psychology. Candidates who can also teach statistics, writing, or research methods will also receive additional consideration. Candidates who have experience with a variety of teaching methods, and have experience working with culturally diverse groups, are preferred.
The normal teaching load is four classes per semester. Courses may be taught during daytime and evening hours, using a variety of modalities such as face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online in certain circumstances.
Required Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. with specialization in psychology before the start date of August 2025.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional expertise in areas such as counseling, clinical, and/or lifespan development is preferred but other subareas if psychology will also be considered.
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular, a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.

Conditions of Employment
