Job Summary

The Computer Science Tutor will provide academic support to undergraduate students enrolled in Computer Science courses. The tutor will be responsible for assisting students with assignments, answering questions during lab hours, and helping with grading under the supervision of faculty members. The role also includes attending relevant Computer Science classes to stay informed on course content and assist students as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist students with understanding course material, completing assignments, and preparing for exams during designated lab hours.

  • Help grade assignments, quizzes, and exams as directed by faculty.

  • Attend relevant CS classes to stay informed about course content and provide real-time assistance to students.

  • Maintain consistent communication with faculty to ensure alignment on grading standards and tutoring techniques.

  • Promote a positive learning environment and encourage academic success.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have completed the following courses: CS101, CS202, CS140 (IT240).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java,).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferably has also completed: CS203, CS205, and CS206.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and balance academic responsibilities with the demands of the tutoring position.
  • Passionate about helping peers succeed in their computer science education.
