This posting is for multiple instructional positions within the Academy of Science and Technology for various subjects, including Social Sciences, Math, and electives. We are seeking three (3) full-time teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Part-time teachers may be considered upon request.
Full-time teachers have a primary ten (10) month contract based on teaching five (5) classes with one (1) planning period in the Fall and Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer, may be available for additional compensation based upon academy need.
The starting full-time salary is $49,029 annually. Any salary amount above this is commensurate upon an individual's qualifications.
Responsibilities and Duties Include:

Plans, prepares, and conducts a variety of learning activities considering students’ learning styles and special needs in order to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.

Selects, develops, modifies and/or adapts materials, technology, and resources to support learning objectives and address students’ learning styles and special needs.

Creates or selects goals and objectives for unit and daily plans based on a review of district and state curriculum priorities, student profiles and instructional priorities.

Identifies specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.

Applies principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery.
-
Maintains academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques.
-
Provides quality work for students which is focused on meaningful, relevant, and engaging learning experiences.
-
Sequences content and activities appropriately.
-
Maintains instructional momentum with smooth and efficient transitions from one activity to another.
-
Provides instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
-
Assists students in assessing, interpreting, and evaluating information from multiple sources.
-
Encourages self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance, as appropriate.

Monitors learning activities and provide feedback to students about the appropriateness of responses and quality of work with a focus on improving student performance.

Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional units and teaching strategies.
-
Interprets and uses data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.

Develops and uses ongoing assessments to monitor student progress to verify that learning is occurring to adjust curriculum and instruction.

Administers tests, including standardized tests, in accordance with directions provided, including proctoring and secure handling of materials.

Communicates high learning expectations for all students.

Fosters student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others by role modeling and learning activities.

Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community.

Provides accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance of students.

Writes or participates in the formation of student IEP or 504 Plans or any other learning plans based on individual student needs.

Establishes routines and procedures and encourage students to follow them consistently.

Establishes and maintains appropriate discipline in the educational setting and effective behavior management techniques.

Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and school/community.

Collaborates with students, parents, school staff and other appropriate persons to assist in meeting student needs.

Works with other teachers in curriculum development, special activities and sharing ideas and resources.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of curriculum content.

Engages in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills including instructional methodology, learning theory, curriculum trends and content.

Develops and implements a Professional Development Plan annually in accordance with state and district requirements.

Demonstrates punctuality and regular attendance.

Assists in enforcement of school rules, and administrative regulations.

Complies with policies, procedures, and programs.

Acts in a professional and ethical manner.

Establishes and maintains a positive, safe and non-threatening learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.

Supports school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, services, and programs.

Manages materials and equipment effectively.

Instructs and supervises the work of volunteers and aides when assigned.

Supervises students at all times to ensure a safe and orderly environment.

Maintains a clean, attractive, and organized learning environment.

Maintains accurate and complete records in accordance with academy procedures.

Maintains student grade, attendance, and conduct records in accordance with established procedures.

Recognizes overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention, referral, or reporting actions.

Attends Parent Night and/or College Night.

Collaborates with the Director of the department, department faculty and staff, as well as other college officials to assist with implementing college policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the SF mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.

Understands and appreciates high school students.

Participates in departmental and faculty meetings, committee work, as well as service to the academy as requested.

Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.

Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
-
Social Sciences: A Florida teaching certificate in History (6-12) or Social Science (6-12).
-
Mathematics: A Florida teaching certificate in Mathematics (6-12)
-
Electives: A Florida teaching certificate in any subject (6-12)
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: ESE Certification Preferred. Three (3) or more years of high school teaching (within the last 10 years) is preferred.
