The Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research (VPDOR) provides guidance and support to facilitate, nurture and safeguard a thriving research ecosystem at Stanford. To this end, the VPDOR assumes dual roles. As Cognizant Dean for the independent academic units, the VPDOR oversees the program scope and resources for the fifteen multi-disciplinary and independent laboratories, centers, and institutes which operate outside of the schools’ boundaries. As Vice Provost and the University’s Chief Research Officer, the VPDOR recommends and promulgates new policy and oversees its implementation; Develop strategic roadmap for system improvements and development with the Director and University IT, work with UIT to implement strategies, system updates and provide trouble-ticket responses. Manages the mission-support offices that provide services of research compliance and administration, health and safety, and technology transfer to Stanford’s research enterprise; advises the President and Provost in a broad array of academic issues pertaining to and beyond research.Our VPDoR Diversity Journey:

This position will serve as a first point-of-contact for investigators seeking assistance in performing disclosures or COI-related policy guidance. Serving in collaboration with the Stanford COI Director, the position will distribute reminders, instructions, and other materials in preparation for annual disclosure cycles, conduct assessments of outside activity disclosures and prepare administrative actions as directed by university policies and procedures. The position will ensure timely review of research-related activities and relationships, and management of conflicts of interest in compliance with regulations and policies. The position serves as a primary point-of-contact for investigators seeking consultation on research integrity-related matters, working together with faculty and staff to institute a culture for the responsible conduct of research.CORE DUTIES:
- Collaborates with the Director of COI/COC in communicating with stakeholders on COI documentation and management, disclosure reporting, and other related compliance activities.Prepares information packets for committee review and communicates outcomes of review with key stakeholdersAssists system administrators and compliance officials throughout the University in routine data management, reporting, and maintenance, and other activities as necessary.Develops administrative management strategies and prepares management plans as recommended or delegated by the COI committeeActively engages in monitoring and oversight of COI managementConducts self in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.Strong subject matter expertise in research administration in higher education institutionsDemonstrated experience in service design and/or instructional designKnowledge of software development cycle strongly preferred

- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently sitting.Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds;Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
- Occasionally work evenings and weekends.

The expected pay range for this position is $153,748 to $190,812 per annum for hybrid positions.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to geographic location, knowledge, skills and abilities, relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, performance; as well as other business and organization needs such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the minimum qualifications, departmental budget availability, and market and internal equity across the unit, department and reporting relationships.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
