Position Summary Under the general direction of a journey level crafts worker perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repair of campus equipment and/or assist journeyperson with installation and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment, compressors and auxiliary equipment used in the manufacture and distribution of steam, chilled water, compressed air and distilled water. Assist in the repair of steam lines and vacuum pumps. Operate tools and equipment related to the HVAC trade. Operate and maintain a variety of power and hand tools, transport materials, clean job sites, and observe good safety practices. Maintain logs of completed task. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 2000 trade-appropriate documented work experience hours (Preferred) Working knowledge of general HVAC trade practices and procedures. (Required) Ability to perform routine and semi-skilled tasks assisting Service Engineers or SOE's. (Required) Ability to make minor repairs/installations, or perform preventive maintenance on a variety of University equipment/systems. (Required) Working knowledge of various hand tools, power equipment and supplies of the HVAC trade. (Required) Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (Required) Skill in working independently or as part of a work crew follow through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required) Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. (Required) Ability to observe all safety practices. (Required) Ability to keep accurate records of work and completed jobs. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Some Schooling Trade related 6-18 CEU’s (Preferred) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
