(Contingent upon available funding): 18.00 - 35.00, Hourly Work Schedule: M-F, 8a-5p with overtime as necessary Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The Clinical Skills Lab Technician will work with the Director of the Clinical Skills Program and veterinary faculty to plan, organize and directly work in the small and large animal clinical skills education for the DVM program. This position includes laboratory session design, a substantial role in teaching as well as evaluation of students. The manager will be responsible for purchasing supplies and keeping the lab functioning for day to day activities. The position may also include assistance with faculty in educational research projects and model design and creation. Required Qualifications:
Registered Veterinary Technician or completed associate degree in veterinary technology and will sit for the Oklahoma State Board of Examiner's technician certifying exam and obtain licensure within 120 days of hire.Experience with procedures such as administering vaccines/medications, placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters, suturing skin incisions/applying casts, EKG/Ultrasound/other diagnostic imaging/monitoring, inducing anesthesia by inhalation or intravenous injection, etc.
Communicate and work well with faculty, staff and students. Certification and/or knowledge in either small or large animal clinical/technical skills. Enthusiastic and effective teaching and evaluation/feedback abilities. Good organizational skills. Be self-motivated and able to maintain efficiency while working independently. Ability to problem solve independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of experience as Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition. Experience with procedures such as administering vaccines/medications, placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters, suturing skin incisions/applying casts, EKG/Ultrasound/and other diagnostic imaging/monitoring, inducing anesthesia by inhalation or intravenous injection, etc.
