Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, Health Education, Sport Management, Higher Education, or related field.
  • Current CPR, AED, First Aid and or ability to obtain within 45 days

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Education, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the promotion, design, development and administration of recreational programs.
  • Experience in facility management as well as supervision of personnel and participants, purchasing processes and payroll management.
  • Skill in maintenance and repair of equipment or mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to effectively communicate using oral, written and electronic communication.
  • Knowledge in employee selection, training and evaluation of staff.
  • Skill in developing and implementing risk management protocols.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Job Description:

The Coordinator of Operations & Events will support the Assistant Director of Operations & Events in leading and managing the administration and operation of the Student Recreation Center, Custodial Services and all events and reservations, in the pursuit of inspiring Bobcats to be their best and create lasting memories.

Job Duties:

Facility Management: 40%

  • Coordinate and manage daily operations of the Facility Operations program, including facility supervision, point of sale processes, website upkeep and operational policies and procedures.
  • Develop proposals and implement innovative ideas for the improvement of overall operations and growth of programs/services/usage.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to coordinate program area promotion to campus and community.
  • Develop and conduct assessments of program goals annually. Report assessment results to leadership as documentation of programmatic outcomes supporting department and division goals.
  • Help lead the coordination and staffing of all department events and external reservations.

Staff Development and Oversight: 30%
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Operations & Events to recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate approximately 50 student staff, including but limited to 20 Facility Attendants, 15 Facility Supervisors, 10 Facility Managers, 5 Team Operations, and Graduate Assistant.
  • Conduct routine trainings, monthly in-services, and meetings for student staff.
  • Develop and manage building schedules and student staffing.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive experience for event attendees, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

Administration and Budget Management: 10%
  • Work with Assistant Director in the completion of overall area budget.
  • Use budget forecasting models to project future payroll, equipment, operating expenses, and revenue. Monitor income and expenses.
  • Purchase equipment and supplies.
  • Approve staff time and ensure compliance with payroll and purchasing processes.

Risk Management and Safety: 10%
  • Ensure compliance of staff with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility and equipment inspections, and established Campus Recreation policies and procedures

Other Duties: 10%
  • Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.
  • Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
  • Other duties as requested or required, whether specifically mentioned in this job description.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule which at times will require frequent attendance during evenings and weekends. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
