Job SummaryAn International Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and facilitating all aspects of international student programs Albany State University, including recruitment, admissions, advising, cultural integration, and support services for incoming international students, while also potentially developing and managing partnerships with overseas institutions to facilitate study abroad opportunities for domestic students; essentially acting as a bridge between the institution and the global student community.

ResponsibilitiesManaging all aspects of campus study abroad and exchange programs, including but not limited to:
Advising :
- Serving as ASU point of contact for students and alumni abroad; supporting and communicating with students currently studying abroad, and their parents, as appropriate.
- Advising on financial resources for programs and tuition fees: financial aid, study abroad scholarship/travel stipend process; advising students throughout the application process for outside scholarship programs, for example, the Gilman International Study Abroad Scholarship and Fund for Education Abroad.
Program Coordination
- Managing the recruitment, selection, orientation and re-entry of study abroad students; maintaining and sharing accurate study abroad databases internally, while maintaining all communication for effective program implementation.
- Overseeing study abroad program budgets and accounts and reporting to the Director; performing cost determination and analysis of program budgets during development phase; responsible for ensuring the payment of all study abroad program expenses and faculty travel expenses.
- Developing materials for student and faculty pre- and post-departure orientations and evaluation based on ASU/USG policies, including location specific procedures related to embassies, consulates, and local laws or regulations.
- Working with units and departmental stakeholders in recruiting study abroad students.
- Collaborating with OIE units to implement services that involve on-campus events, cultural excursions, and after- hours programming for campus internationalization and global learning.
- Managing and maintaining reports on study abroad statistics, and annual reports to the Director; compiling data as requested for faculty/staff inquiries, handle requests for data research; supervising Global Ambassadors' Organization activities etc.
- Coordinating social media and working with the marketing specialist in designing social media strategy and implementing the campaign, keeping abreast of new developments in social technology, and working in conjunction with overall ASU marketing plan to enhance recruitment and communication with students.
- Coordinating and writing communications through the web, electronic reports/ASU Global Issues or newsletters, and other media outlets, including developing ideas and concepts for publication and drafting promotional materials.
- Maintaining all education abroad files; composing letters; maintaining calendar. Assisting in updating and implementing study abroad guidelines and policies.
Promotion and Outreach: The Coordinator/ Advisor will also:
- Develop strategies for promoting, recruiting, and advising applicants; hosts promotional events; plan and lead events such as annual study abroad fair, pre- and post-departure orientations for study abroad students, community outreach, and collaborate with the ISSA and others in implementing the annual International Education Week (IEW) activities.
- Provide general support to the OIE.
- Assist the Director with any other job-related assignments for achieving departmental goals and objectives.
- Support the development and management of educational, cultural, and social programs including events such as International Education Week.
- Participate at state level meetings for international education including the System Council on International Education and certain committees within the council.
Bachelor's degree with two to three years of study abroad work experience in higher education institution or a combination of training and experience.
Experience working with students from different cultural backgrounds.
Experience in admissions, academic advising, study abroad, or career services.
Experience with data reporting/management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences. Social media and web skills.
Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree with one to two years' work experience in study abroad or related area.
Administrative experience.
Event planning experience and time management skills.
Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint,
Publisher, adobe suite, desk top publishing, software and email.
Effective budgeting and reporting skills.
Flexible and strong problem-solving skills.
International experience ( examples not limited to work/internship, study, or living outside of United States and its territories or foreign language proficiency) preferred but not required.
Proposed SalarySalary range is from $38,385 to $46,800..

Organization
Albany State University is a four-year institution in southwest Georgia offering undergraduate and graduate liberal arts and professional degree programs, and a wide range of outreach programs to the community. Albany State University is located in Albany, a progressive city of 100,000, on a 206-acre campus featuring impressive new buildings. The school has gained a reputation as the "Unsinkable Albany State" after surviving two major floods.
Both traditional and non-traditional students make up the more than 4,000 students who attend Albany State. They come primarily from southwest and middle Georgia, Atlanta, other states in the U.S., and several foreign countries. The average student age is 24 and about 40 percent of the students live in on-campus housing.
Albany State offers more than 30 undergraduate degree programs, of which the most popular majors are biology, criminal justice, computer science, middle-grades education, business administration and nursing. The University offers six advanced degrees: the master of science in criminal justice, master of public administration, master of business administration, master of science in nursing, master of education in 11 majors, and an education specialist degree. The university also offers the Board of Regents' engineering transfer program and the dual degree program in engineering with Georgia Tech.
Students at Albany State stay busy after class by participating in 59 clubs and organizations including bands, choirs, religious groups, honor societies, several major Greek and honor sororities and fraternities, and ROTC. An NCAA Division II school, Albany State's intercollegiate sports include men's football, basketball, baseball, track and field, cross-country and women's basketball, volleyball, cross-country and track and field.
A historically black institution, Albany State was founded in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute and supported by private religious organizations. It remained privately supported through 1917, when it began to receive state support and became the Georgia Normal and Agricultural College. It continued to grow and in 1932, when the Board of Regents was established, it became part of the University System of Georgia. The mission was expanded in 1943, and it became a four-year college and assumed the name Albany State College. In 1981 the college offered its first graduate program and in 1996 its name was changed to Albany State University.
