Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor Penn Transit Services, the Temporary Dispatcher at Penn Transit Services is responsible for assisting in the daily coordination of a comprehensive transportation system, which provides safe evening and late-night transit for the University of Pennsylvania community within specific service boundaries.
This is temporary employment through June 30, 2025. The shift is Wednesday - Sunday, 5:30 pm to 3:30 am, which is four 10-hour overnight shifts.

- Receive and dispatch requests for vehicular escorts during evening and late-night service hours
- Coordinate the efforts of the vehicular Shuttle Service with other transit services provided in the Penn Transit Services network including: PennBus Service; Penn Accessible Vehicle (PAT); Penn Charter Service; Penn Crew Transportation; and the AM Transportation Service, through the dynamic allocation of resources including people and vehicles to meet the demand for the various services as required.
- Provide accurate information and courteous assistance to inquiries regarding Penn Transit Services and its regulations, policies and procedures
- Responsible for radio equipment, it's proper use, care and secures storage in the central dispatch location at the end of each shift.
- Ensure that the PTS Ops Center, all Escort vehicles, all key boxes, etc. are properly secured at the end of the last shift each night
- Ensure that the "Daily Logbook" is filled out properly at the end of the last shift each night.
- Act as emergency CDL driver as appropriate, and if certified.
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED required
- Previous dispatch logistics experience preferred.
- Strong customer service experience.
- PREFERRED: Maintain and possess a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License from state of residence (within 90 days of hire). Must have Passenger Endorsement and the Air Brake Restriction must be removed. Must also maintain and possess a valid US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate.
- Experience with Word, Excel and Dispatching software preferred
