Stanford GSB seeks a visionary Director of Web Strategy and Social Media to lead the evolution of our digital presence. This strategic leader will define and execute a forward-thinking approach to how we engage prospective and current students, alumni, and global audiences through our web and social platforms. By aligning digital storytelling, platform innovation, and data-driven insights, this role will shape the way Stanford GSB shares its transformative impact, thought leadership, and world-class programs with the world.

This position manages a small, high-performing team focused on driving engagement and building visibility for the schoolā€™s academic programs, faculty research, strategic initiatives, and thought leadership.

This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of two days per week on the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, CA.

Primary responsibilities*:Strategy:

    Develop and execute forward-thinking strategies for Stanford GSBā€™s website and social media channels, ensuring they align with and advance the schoolā€™s overarching objectives.Drive digital innovation by leveraging market research, audience insights, and competitive analysis to shape a dynamic, data-informed approach to web and social engagement.Transform analytics into actionable strategies, identifying emerging trends and unlocking new opportunities for meaningful audience connection, brand growth, and long-term digital impact.
Web:

    Ensure website experience furthers business and organizational goals and reflects the GSBā€™s standing as a world-class business school.Strategically partner with key stakeholders across the school to leverage the GSB website as a strategic marketing tool by identifying and prioritizing needed features and functionality for the GSB website.Develop site-wide audits and make recommendations for short and long-term improvements, including content architecture, new features, and additional functionality.In partnership with Digital Solutions (IT), define and manage the development roadmap and resolve timely problems and technical issues.Audit data analytics efforts and introduce best reporting practices.
Social:

    Manage and empower the team driving the development, execution, and optimization of Stanford GSBā€™s social media presence.Shape and oversee compelling, high-impact social campaigns that foster engagement and amplify the schoolā€™s brand.Develop and execute strategic recommendations for social boosting, ensuring maximum reach and effectiveness.Define and track key performance metrics, leveraging insights to refine strategy, drive continuous growth, and elevate the school's digital influence.
People management:

    Supervise and mentor a small team with web and social media expertise.Set and manage budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with the organization. Provide financial and operational oversight for key internal stakeholder and vendor relationships, optimize processes and workflows, and spearhead ways to enhance collaboration and efficiencies.Participate in university-wide and organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams, serving as a resource and thought partner.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
    Bachelorā€™s degree and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.Website development experience:
        A proven track record in furthering an organizationā€™s vision, mission and values through user engagement, innovative site development, and on-brand design. Candidates will be asked to provide URLs.Knowledge of technical website development, usability, and accessibilityProficiency in analyzing digital metrics and using insights to drive engagement and traffic.
    Social media management experience:
        Responsibility for social media channels for a highly visible organization or companyKnowledge of social media trends and advertisingExtensive experience developing social media engagement strategies and campaigns.
    People management and leadership:
        Experienced people manager, able to motivate, grow and train staff.Prior experience in planning and managing the budget for a functional areaStrong communication skills and the ability to influence decision-makersExceptional written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated experience presenting to senior leadership.
    Demonstrated experience leveraging integrated marketing strategies to achieve goals.Strong marketing management skills and the ability to persuade and influence decision-makers across all levels of an organization.Exceptional strategic thinking and leadership skills.Proven people manager, with the ability to motivate, grow and train staff across functions.Prior experience in planning and managing department budgets.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated experience presenting to senior managers.Ability to work occasional work on evenings and weekendsAbility to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week on campus

The expected pay range for this position is $144,703 to $171,015 per year.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
