Job Summary

The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Simulation Lab at Columbus State University School of Nursing. The Simulation Coordinator oversees the preparation, set-up, maintenance, inventory and operation of all simulation equipment/supplies and collaborates with faculty to design, plan, implement and schedule simulation activities.

Responsibilities

Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation laboratory/center to provide a wide variety of patient simulation experiences (10%).; Act as the primary contact and coordinator scheduling the School of Nursing clinical courses and external clients utilizing the simulation center (10%).; Oversee the regular maintenance and repair all simulation equipment, including human patient simulators (HPS), computers, monitors and a variety of clinical medical equipment, audiovisual and debriefing systems, virtual reality laboratory computers and other equipment (10%).; Communicate effectively with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repair, update and technology changes (5%).; Coordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed (5%).; Coordinate technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including patient monitors and other health care equipment, medication dispensing systems, vital sign monitors (5%).; Organize and restock simulation laboratory supplies (10%).; Oversee the set up and take down of simulation laboratory equipment, allowing for rapid turnover of simulation lab set up as necessary (10%).; Monitor and prepare simulation budget (<5%).; Provide recommendations for equipment and supply purchases, anticipating changes in technology (<5%).; Ensures compliance with safety policies for simulation participants (5%).; Maintain simulation program to meet current state and national standards (10%).; Collaborate with intra/inter-professional entities (10%).; Participate in university, college and department meetings (<5%).; Communicate effectively with all simulation laboratory faculty and administrative staff. (ongoing). Create a positive work environment demonstrating leadership and supervision for simulation center staff (ongoing).; Coordinate orientation and training for all users of the simulation laboratory (<5%).; Supervise and schedule simulation student workers and volunteers (<5%).; Network with other lab/simulation coordinators at local/state/national level to develop and utilize best practices (<5%).; Maintain learner confidentiality. (at all times).; Performs other job-related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications include: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or equivalent) degree.; Minimum of 2-years of experience as an RN (registered nurse) working clinically in a hospital setting.; A current, unencumbered RN license in Georgia.

Proposed Salary

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $56,723 - $62,314 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Knowledge of and experience with simulation lab environment in nursing or health education.; Knowledge of clinical situations for various populations.; Knowledge of and ability to manage technology used in a hospital setting.; Knowledge of and experience in higher education, specifically with nursing education.; Ability to plan and organize.; Exceptional communication skills.; Leadership skills in management of simulation lab environment.; Ability to work cohesively with a team.

Conditions of Employment
