Position Description :

The Department of Computer Science invites applications for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant ans/or Associate Professor of Instruction, starting in Fall 2025. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of courses primarily at the undergraduate level at our Round Rock and Collin College campuses. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-line faculty appointment. Opportunities exist to augment the academic year salary by assisting with summer instruction.

Successful candidates are expected to do the following:
1. Teach 4 sections of 2 to 3 undergraduate courses per semester,
2. Participate in institutional and professional service, and
3. Exhibit a collaborative attitude that feeds into the culture of cooperation and teamwork in the Computer Science Department. This non-tenure-line faculty position is primarily for teaching. Candidates are not expected to engage in research, external funding, or publications.

The department offers the following degree programs: Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science, Bachelor of Arts in computer science, Master of Science in computer science, Master of Arts in computer science, and Doctor of Philosophy in computer science. The BS degree is ABET accredited. The department enjoys a friendly atmosphere and is dedicated to the success of its junior faculty, providing support through formal mentoring, reduced service loads, collaboration and collegiality, and opportunities to participate in university-wide professional development programs.

Texas State University Round Rock campus is located in one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. Providing exceptional academic programs, student academics support services and training opportunities to students and the community in Round Rock, North Austin, and Williamson County.

The Collin College Technical Campus, is a comprehensive campus offering students multiple paths to success in high-demand, high-wage career fields including computer science, engineering technology and electrical engineering. Students work in state-of-art lab facilities and have a variety of support services available to them. The campus is located in Allen, TX, about 25 minutes from downtown Dallas.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

For All Ranks:

  • Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field by the start of employment.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in US universities.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

In addition, for the Associate Professor of Instruction rank:
  • At least five years of teaching experience or at least 10 years’ experience in industry working as a senior/lead scientist or engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in computer science or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching both lower- and upper-level computer science courses.
  • Demonstrates current and contemporary competence in teaching content area
  • University service experience.
  • Exhibits the potential for increased leadership in teaching and instructional activities
